I am almost 50 in the best health of my life!
Midlife is typically a time of change for a lot of people, myself included. The body and mind start to change without ever asking your permission. It is not as forgiving as it used to be. You become injured faster and take longer to heal. You start forgetting things you've never forgotten before, and worse of all, your 'questionable' food choices seem to have an immediate effect.
As a child I struggled. The “I’m not good enough”… “nobody likes me” mantra rang inside my head constantly. This lead me to become a people pleaser, avoiding conflict at all costs. That fear and insecurity was crippling in my youth and early adulthood. I felt so sad and alone. Fortunately, these feelings led me down a path of self discovery and self liberation through both spiritual and physical realms.
I became obssessed with exercising, diet and lifestyle. Over the last 25+ years, I have experimented with every type of workout philosophies and eating regimens imaginable. Some worked better than others, but nothing stuck for me. As an amateur chef, luckily I enjoyed the many hours experimenting in the kitchen. Lol. I was constantly injured from exercising and chronically inflamed from the foods I was eating. A long time sufferer of GERD, I was determined to find the answers, and I was convinced it was directly related to how I was currently living my life. I searched and experimented, but struggled to find a PERMANENT solution.
Enter Mark Sisson and his book “The Primal Blueprint”. After reading Mark’s philosophy I was intrigued. I decided to give this lifestyle a try. Everything I read just made so much sense and the philosophy was backed by numerous studies and scientific data. In 2016, I decided to give this lifestyle a try. The results were undeniable. My GERD disappeared, my injuries from exercising were non-existent and I was able to maintain an ideal body composition effortlessly, YEAR ROUND! All of these conditions have disappeared and I am in the best mental and physical shape of my life. After all of those years of searching, I had finally found the answer, it was abundantly clear!
Living though the last 25 years, I can say, unequivocally, that the primal lifestyle has completely changed my life. From my lack of health issues, to abundant energy, to the freedom to eat only when I’m hungry, to achieving an ideal body composition (a side affect really)…It has affected me so deeply that I felt utterly compelled to study this material as deeply as possible to learn as much as I can. Hence, my journey to becoming a health coach.
